Even Shaq thinks Steph Curry is better than him and that they are ‘in the conversation’ for greatest player of all time

The Golden State Warriors beat the Boston Celtics in OT on Tuesday night (TNT), even though they had been behind in the West playoff race all season.

Stephen Curry played great in the last few seconds of the game and OT, scoring 33 points and dishing out six assists. His great play has been the Warriors’ only bright spot all season. Curry made the game-winning basket in the last few seconds of OT by making a crazy three-pointer over Derrick White. The Warriors were no longer in the game after this.

The Warriors have had a rough season this year, with Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson (though Thompson has been getting better), and Draymond Green being suspended indefinitely. However, Curry has been amazing and has kept up his level of greatness well into his 30s. Shaq could not help but ask on Inside the NBA why Steph Curry is not talked about more when people talk about the GOAT. Curry has four rings.

Warriors notebook: Why Steph Curry may play better after an injury

Keenan Smith asks Shaq if Steph is more important to him than himself, even though he has not shown up yet. Shaq quickly replies in the affirmative. Shaq has said for a long time that Steph Curry is his favourite NBA player. Shaq ranks Curry with Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Magic Johnson as the best point guards. Kenny, on the other hand, thinks that Steph and Magic Johnson are tied for first place.

Shaq wants to make sure we recognise Curry as a great player, not just a shot, which I think gets lost in all the talk about Steph Curry. That is a good thing. It is an interesting subject to talk about. His contemporaries, like LeBron, have had such a great career and stayed at the top for so long that it is hard to include them in the GOAT discussion. When talking about Curry’s impact on the game, it is important to remember that he may have changed the rules more than anyone else since Michael Jordan.

Curry keeps adding records, honours, and (if the Warriors can get it together again) possible wins to his resume, so Shaq might want to bring this up again. Curry is not done writing his story yet, so I do not think he will win over many people who do not live in the Bay Area.
